I went on one date with a guy I met on Hinge. He liked me and asked me out on a second date while we were still on the first date, and I said yes.

We spent the whole day together on our first date last Saturday, and we planned to meet again the following Saturday.

But around Tuesday, he told me that something had come up on Saturday evening, so he wouldn’t be able to stay out for long. He still suggested going to a museum together.

I found it a bit confusing because he suddenly said he had plans on Saturday evening.

Is it normal in Western dating culture for people to spend time with their friends on weekends even when they’re dating someone? In Korea, especially at the beginning of dating, it’s pretty common to keep the whole Saturday free for a date.
